Kelowna Regatta 2010
Our new paddlers – what a bunch of troopers
These folks sure aren’t party poopers.
Like the true paddling professionals that they are
They just hop from boat to boat and paddle like a star
And with Wendy’s caps on everyone’s noggin’
On through the elements we kept a-sloggin.
For with Wendy’s hats upon our head,
We’re all mighty glad that we ain’t dead!
And when you finished the senior’s race in first place to boot
Pat and the cheering section gave you the one finger salute.
Laurel, our own Eh Team matriarch did appear
For her favourite paddling team to cheer.
And I’m sure the people at the retirement facility,
Must all be truly amazed at her agility
For up until some few months ago,
Laurel could be found on our boat, in the last row.
And as you stepped off the water after the senior’s race
There stood Laurel with the biggest smile on her face
And since she wore a coat the colour of gold
Obviously, our medal colour was fore-told
Ingvar, our favourite Eh Team Viking,
He’s a fellow very much to our liking
Paddled on like a man with no fear
Even after Mike Tyson bit off part of his ear
And Vi and her group of Eh Team of socialites
Arranged an excellent barbeque for Saturday nights.
And the evening ended very merry,
With Pat’s pies made with blueberry.
And to sum up the weekend – isn’t it nifty?
To win an athletic medal when you’re over fifty.
And all of you who are new to the team
Paddling with you this year has been a dream!
