Barnett Bash
On May 2nd we headed off to the Barnett bash
and once again had a fantastic crash,
so we turned around to re-run our race
but still came out in the very first place.
Then off the weary paddlers went to race number two
but at the finish line our spirits were quite blue
for we didn’t hear the horn toot for the start
what we heard sounded more like a weak fart.
Despite all our trials and tribulations
we still made it to the silver eliminations
We paddled our hearts out, it was something to see
and ended up in a respectable place number three
But the race we had all been anticipating
the four senior’s teams were anxiously awaiting.
We had Dorothy at the front and Doug at the rear
and several team members on the dock to cheer.
We shot off at the start line ahead of the pack
and paddled our hearts out with no looking back,
neck and neck we raced hard to the end
since we had our reputation to defend.
We crossed the finish line slightly behind the team in yellow
but were heartily congratulated by many a fellow
and as we stumbled to the shore with smiles on our faces
we were patted on the back by our competitor racers.
