Saturday was not the team’s best day
someone even said the real team stayed away.
There was crap above the water and below,
and it affected our races, that much we know.
But thanks to Pat’s encouraging parting talk
we had lots to think about on our homeward walk
And as Sunday dawned fresh and new
our enthusiasm for racing grew and grew.
When it came to the important race 56
we found our place in lucky lane number six
We left it all in the boat that time
and came across third at the finish line
So the team has jumped up to division B
something we thought we would never see
but we’re hearty folk with lots of class
and we paddle hard till there’s no more gas.
Ah, but the Gemini, the Gemini,
it pinches our butt and bruises our thigh
We dislike it so much we want to cry
but the Eh Team always gives it a great try.
How Jan stayed in the boat I’ll never know,
I think she would do well in a wildwest rodeo show.
Surely she must have legs and buns of steel,
well, Doug would know when he grabs a feel.
And Laurel came through again at the end of the day
and had lots of champagne to give away
And as we finish off the first half of the year
for sure it’s only onwards and upwards from here.
